Members' filmThe Challenge
An event's VR corner needed one simple place for attendees to choose between several 360° experiences in a headset.
The Solution
A mixed-reality launcher that floats in the real room through passthrough. Attendees pick from 360° tours, immersive films, an interactive 3D map and a livestream link.
Behind it sits a full 360° video manager. Some videos ship inside the app, and others download to the headset on demand, after a server-side authentication check confirms the account is allowed to download them. All of them play in full 360°. Web-based tours open in a web viewer built into the app, on a curved in-headset screen.
The image above is an illustrative mock-up: the real visuals and client details are confidential at the client's request. I'm happy to walk through the project on a call.
My Role
Built for Jessy H. (Canada), a repeat client. I developed the app for Meta Quest: the passthrough menu, the 3D map, 360° video playback, the video manager (bundled and on-demand content with permission-based downloads), and the embedded web viewer for the web-based tours. The 360° content was supplied by the client.
Tech
Unity, C#, Meta Quest, passthrough (mixed reality), 360° video (bundled via StreamingAssets and downloaded on demand), server-side authentication for account-based download permissions, embedded in-app web viewer.
Outcome
A single, easy entry point for showcasing several 360° experiences from one headset, with control over who can download content.
